HC/40-1 Premium Hurricane Filter Cartridge
The Harmsco HC/40-1 is a 1 micron nominal rated hurricane filter cartridge — the flagship cartridge engineered for Harmsco Hurricane and WaterBetter housings. It measures 7.75″ OD x 9.625″ long and is NSF certified, made in the USA since 1958.
The HC/40-1 carries 40 sq ft of pleated Polyester media and flows up to 35 GPM with low pressure drop, rated for continuous service to 140°F. Pleated construction holds several times the dirt of wound or spun elements at the same 1 micron rating, stretching change-out intervals accordingly.
Plants specify the HC/40-1 for Hurricane and WaterBetter housing systems, cooling tower and process water, pre-RO and pre-UV protection, and municipal and well water polishing. See the compatible housings on this page for the exact models it fits.
In a Hurricane housing, cyclonic pre-separation strips dense solids before the cartridge — extending change-out intervals well past conventional systems. Track differential pressure across the housing and change the cartridge at your target ΔP to keep flow at design and protect downstream equipment.
