Hot water exposes every weak point in a filtration system — gaskets soften, plastics deform, adhesives let go. A proper high temperature water filter setup specifies every component for the real operating temperature, not the nameplate average.
Know Your True Temperature
Spec for the hottest credible condition: sanitization cycles, summer peaks, exothermic process swings. A system that’s fine at 140°F can fail fast during a 200°F CIP cycle it was never rated for.
Housings: Stainless, Rated, ASME-Built
Harmsco stainless steel housings are built to ASME standards and rated to 150 PSI working pressure, with O-ring materials selected for the service. Stainless holds strength at temperatures that embrittle or soften polymer housings.
Cartridges: the Usual Failure Point
Standard cartridge media, end caps and adhesives are the components that quit first in hot service. Harmsco 801-HT high-temperature cartridges are engineered for continuous service up to 250°F (121°C), keeping their micron rating and structural integrity where standard elements collapse.
Setup Checklist
- Confirm peak temperature including cleaning cycles
- Stainless housing with temperature-appropriate O-rings
- High-temperature-rated cartridges (to 250°F)
- Expansion-tolerant piping and independent supports
- ΔP gauges rated for the service temperature
Boiler feed, condensate polish, hot CIP loops, energy plant water — Harmsco has filtered hot water since 1958. Contact our team with your temperature and flow, and we’ll spec the full setup.
