What Membranes Need from You
Membrane warranties typically demand 5 micron (often 1 micron) protection and low silt density index. Miss it and you pay in cleanings, flux loss and early replacement. The pre-treatment train is where that battle is won.
The Three-Stage Train
- Cyclonic separation — Hurricane® up-flow housings drop sand and dense solids before any media, critical on well and surface feeds
- Depth stage — 5–20 micron pleated cartridges capture bulk silt at high dirt-holding capacity
- Polish stage — 1 micron absolute elements immediately ahead of the membrane skid
Why Pleated High-Area Media
Harmsco pleated cartridges carry up to 75 sq. ft. of media per element — several times the area of spun or string-wound equivalents — which means lower velocity, lower pressure drop and fewer change-outs between membrane cleanings. For chlorinated feeds, add activated carbon ahead of thin-film membranes.
